Desirability:
It's just a patch bay, not very sexy, but it is now my favorite, most useful piece of gear because of how it "enabled" the rest of my gear.

Adds no apparent noise to my signal path and has even solved a ground loop problem I was having with an old Korg M1.
Support:
Behringer is slow as death to answer emails, but the one time I've ever had to return a new "B-stock" Behringer item, they replaced it with a brand new "A-stock" one for no additional charge.
Overall:
If you have a multitrack and a few DSPs, or even an amp and a few different pieces of rack gear, a patch bay may be for you. This one is a godsend for me, and as patch bays go, there's not a thing wrong with this inexpensive unit.

This is a good value. The clean sound and the extensive features are pretty impressive given the price tag.

This is a practical unit that solves problems with different sampling rates, and converts to and from digital. It's not the kind of thing that has sex appeal. You buy it for its features.

The ADC section is quite clean and flat sounding, with a low noise floor.
Support:
Don't know how their support is because I never needed it.
Overall:
For a lot more money you can probably get a slight increase in dynamic range, a tiny bit less jitter, etc. But for anything less than a perfectionist, this is a great product at a great price, and I've been happily using it to make recordings.

It pretty solid once you've tightened the movement out of it, but the teeth are already showing some wear after just putting it together. The spring system in the teeth doesn't always work and will sometime 'pop out' the arm portion away from the riser.
Ease of Use:
This thing seems easy to use, but then you have to deal with using the 'teeth' on the tilt and you realize why this was so cheap. Anlso moving the bar out when widening the stand it a pain. The ! way it sits on the stand (at least the one I have) makes it very hard to get full use of the lower unit.
Overall:
It works for a cheap 2nd tier, I might take it on a road trip as a junker (to toss out afterward) but wouldn't take it on a 2nd.

The MDR7505 produces fantastic sound, uncovering sounds I have never heard before in well known music. Great for techno, trance, drum 'n' bass, and of course heavy grungy rock!

Sony replaced under warranty, 6 months from purchase date, no questions asked, due to damaged earpiece swivel.

Cable is more flexible than most all other brands and does not kink up like others do, and that's a BIG plus. Despite being flexible, it is not "weak" or "flimsy" at all. Just as heavy-duty as any other cable out there. Very flexible, conducts a good, strong, accurate signal, is moderately priced, and has a lifetime warranty. This is what really appeals to me. These cords will last you for a loooong time. I've put mine through a lot worse than any self-respecting musician should; unintentionally slapping them against the walls, tripping over them, kicking them, and still the sound is clearer than ever.

Price is a little high, but you are paying for high quality stuff here. Besides, it's not much more than a dollar per foot anyway.

Awesome cord. My friend's first cord was not a monster cord, and after about a year now he needs a new one. So, do yourself a favor and pay for high quality now, instead of buying two or three other brand cords down the road.

the detatchable plug has never really been an issue to me. Never had a pair of phones that the plug tore out of or got cut off.

The quality is good. It's a very solid pair of headphones.
Value:
With the MSRP being $200 you'd think that there would have been more attention to the eq response of these phones. The sound is pleasing and still translates better to speakers than the other phones I have but it is not qu! ite there.
Sound:
It's true that these are lacking in treble energy. I have found, however, that they do an extraordinarily good job of representing what one would hear with a subwoofer. They do a much better job of this than the sony mdr-v6 and akg k141's I have. I wouldn't get these for accurate tracking. The are very good at handling distortion and clipping.
Overall:
I would only buy these if you listen to music for pleasure. With a really good headphone amp - they are wonderful. This is probably because they almost seem to reduce distortion apparent in any recording. That is definitely the strong point here. It's a very noble attempt from fostex that would benefit greatly from a revised and updated model.

It's actually okay, feature-wise. Just okay though. In order to change normalling, you have to do some destructive mods. If you want to rack mount it, you take the screws out that hold it together! So you have to duct tape the thing together! Once racked, it's okay.

It's really horrible. Don't buy this. Get the PX2000 instead, or something else if you really want balanced connections.
Value:
Even at the low price, it's not a good buy.

I am replacing it with another PX2000, I have one of those and I'm pretty happy with it. I *might* use this for experimenting if I really need extra patch points, but it's not even worth as much as the cables plugged into it.
Sound:
Well, I cannot claim the thing is noisy, but it's a staggeringly poor design. I don't know where to begin. Cables will definitely work themselves loose. Compared to the PX2000, there is no comparison. The PX2000 is actually very good, and this PX1000 is a total piece of crap.

I've already made the order for a replacement.

This is premium construction here. The quality of the signal you send is only as good as your cable, and this one, again, is top of the line. If you are doing non crucial recording, then this is overkill. However, if you take your recording seriously, you can't go wrong here.

No documentation (tsk-tsk) which is a pain because the manual clearly states to not take out any screws (other than those shown in tha manual to add an extra FX card). And here you now have to take out over a dozen screws on the side of the unit to fit the rack-ears. I don't know about you, but I get that feeling of dread, like you're gonna hear something drop inside.
! Overall:
Most (if not all) adverts for this product state that screws will be included with the rack ears; not so. You'll have to recycle the ones you take off the DAW itself. You have to be careful because by re-using those screws without the units side panels, the screws now go further into the unit than they did originally. One of the screws clearly butts-up against the units's selection-wheel, so I omitted that screw in order to not damage the unit. Also, because it fits into a rack, it is highly likely that you will not be able to use the CD-RW with these ears in place. They are therefore just good for transportation. But everything fits beautifully.

I've tried everything, and seen what ot! her sound companies use, to secure cabling. This is simply the best, most direct and utilitarian solution to securing cable. There's simply nothing I can imagine in my fertile mind that would work better.

Enh, it's there. I had a couple of bad boards in the two patchbays I bough. The connections are metal-tipped but otherwise plastic and cheap.

Well, what can you say? It's a patchbay. It doesn't ADD anything to the signal, so I'll say it's doing a good job.

If I had to t! otal up the number of hours I wasted plugging and unplugging my cables in and out of this patchbay to find bad nodes and loose connections, I'm sure it would rival the amount of work I was actually able to get done with the patchbay.This patchbay is a hassle to get setup due to the fact that you have to really work to get the cables seating in the jack properly while it only takes a little bit of force to loosen them to the point of a bad connection. Boo.
